Linville Gorge Camping/Hiking April 2006
NiteWatch made our second camping excursion to the gorge and Brown Mtn.
with a 3 day event. Randy, Craig and Daniel spent their time hiking
the area during the day and trying to locate the Brown Mtn. Lights
phenomenon during the night with some stargazing thrown in for good
measure. One night nothing unusual was witnessed, but our second night
produced five sightings of suspicious lights. Two of these were on the
ridge between Table Rock and Hawks Bill mtn. and were quite bright and
large. Craig is confident these were vehicle lights as our map showed
roads and a parking area in the general vicinity, but Daniel wants to
travel these roads to check the proximity to the sightings. We will
do this in the near future. The lights were exciting nonetheless as
we were tired of coming up empty handed. Unfortunately, we could not
get our cameras in place to show you video/stills before they were gone.
There were lights on Brown Mtn., but were dim at a distance of a few
miles, but one sighting was very similar to the video on brownmountainlights.com.
Was this an actual viewing of the true anomalous lights? We dont know
for sure, but we certainly enjoyed seeing them. The rest of our time
was spent in the gorge hiking and seeing sights like the falls and Babel
Tower and climbing to the top of it. Have you seen lights similar to
these? Drop us a email and let us know your experiences.
