The Mystery of Orbs



Orbs are photographic anomalies that are attributed to some type 
of manifestation whether spiritual or natural in origin.  
They are the most prominent of all pictures thought to document 
paranormal activity.  I have included a few pictures sent to us 
for evaluation.  NiteWatch members' opinions are that virtually 
all of them are explainable problems with the camera.  Dust on 
the lens, dust or mist in the air, light flashes or reflections, 
and hoaxes are just a few explanations for them.  Why is it that
these objects are not visible unless captured by a camera?  
Logical deduction and knowledge of photography and camera 
operation is the answer.  It is true that faint light sources
are hard to see when looking straight at them, but with the
sheer number and/or size of most orb photos, the observer 
should see something.  The zealous investigator wants to find 
evidence of something, anything that shows, "see, look at this."  
Unfortunately, without seeing the event with your own two eyes 
and then with a second or third witness, with photographic documentation,
orb photographs are very unreliable in our opinion. One of our members
is less skeptical with the belief that some orbs can appear in pictures
and not be visible to the eye simply depending on the makeup of the orb.
We are continuing to learn about them and differing techniques of
photography including infrared cameras to gain a different perspective.
