John and Lynn visited the Stanley Hotel located one hour from Denver, CO near the Rocky Mountain National Park.
The Stanley is well-known for being the hotel the Stephen King book "The Shining" is based upon. Stanley
Kubrick then directed the excellent movie version starring Jack Nicholson. In 1997, the hotel finally got
it's opportunity to star in a second TV mini-series starring Rebecca DeMornay and Steven Weber with Mick Garris
directing. The Travel Channel recently examined the ghostly goings on that employees and travelers have reported
so often. Room 217 is the epicenter of all things strange in the historic hotel, andthey should have stayed
there as they, unfortunately, had no big wheels in the halls, no "redrum" on the wall, no blood from the walls or
even a bathroom ax attack. Instead they stayed in an historic room and included a days worth of hiking, 7 miles and
a 4000 foot gain in elevation in the Rocky Mtn. National Park to the summit of Fairchild Mountain, over 13000
feet from sea level, no small feat for anyone!
